Meet Deb Brookes
Debra “Deb” Brookes is an attorney with over 20 years of experience specializing in cryptocurrency compliance, sanctions enforcement, and white-collar prosecutions. Deb serves as an advisor for a crypto blockchain company.
Previously, Deb worked with the NYS Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS). Deb held several positions, most notably Deputy Virtual Chief and Head of Supervision, where she supervised over 30 licensed crypto companies for four years. Before NYSDFS, Deb served as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice through the competitive Attorney General's Honors Program. Deb investigated and prosecuted white-collar crimes, including bid-rigging, price-fixing, and customer allocation conspiracies.
Deb graduated with four post-secondary degrees: cum laude from Albany Law School (elected to serve as Note & Comment Editor for the Albany Law Review); and a master's, bachelor's, and associate's degrees from New York University.
